This is a two-page printable “Food Memory” game designed to develop visual recognition and vocabulary skills in a fun, interactive way. It features a wide variety of food items, including fruits, vegetables, proteins, and pantry staples, rendered in a bright and modern illustrative style.

How to Play
The resource is designed as a classic “Concentration” or “Pairs” game. Follow these steps to set it up:

  • Preparation: Print two copies of each page so that every food item has a matching pair.
  • Laminate & Cut: For durability, laminate the sheets before cutting out the individual square tiles.
  • The Setup: Mix all the cards thoroughly and lay them face down on a flat surface in a grid pattern.

The Turn: Players take turns flipping over two cards.

If the cards match (e.g., two avocados), the player keeps the pair and goes again.

If they do not match, the cards are flipped back over in their original spots, and the next player takes a turn.

Winning: The game ends when all pairs have been collected. The player with the most pairs wins!

Alternative Learning Ideas

  • Categorization: Ask students to sort the face-up cards into groups, such as “Healthy vs. Treat,” “Fruits vs. Vegetables,” or by color.

  • Bilingual Labels: Use the cards as flashcards by writing the name of the food on the back in English and a second language.
