In America, Thanksgiving is one of the most important days of the year. This is when people give thanks to God for food and all of the good things they have in their lives.

‘Thanksgiving Day Sampler’ is a well-structured lesson which aims to help students to engage in a meaningful way with this festival through a mixture of attractive activities which ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students: give me 3, Think-Pair-Share, watching a video clip, 3-3-1 activity, class discussions and designing a Thanksgiving Card. All activities are clearly linked to success criteria. I have included a few pictures of completed work from my students.

Learning intentions
The lesson was designed to help most pupils:
✶ to give 2 - 3 examples of key features of Thanksgiving;
✶ to identify the key events of the story of the first Thanksgiving;
✶ to describe 3-4 practices associated with Thanksgiving.
