This resource contains a complete lesson on how Christmas is celebrated in France. It is designed so teachers can use it straight away, but everything can be adapted to suit different classes and teaching styles.

The PowerPoint covers key Christmas and New Year vocabulary, French traditions, the December timeline, Saint-Nicolas, Réveillon, the crèche, modern celebrations, and New Year customs. It also includes speaking tasks, a short video activity, and a simple writing model.

The worksheet pack follows the PowerPoint in the same order, so students can work through activities while the teacher moves through the slides. Tasks include vocabulary match-up, comprehension questions, short written answers, speaking prompts, a letter-writing activity, and optional extension tasks.

The lesson works with mixed-ability groups and can be used with KS3, KS4 or lower KS5 French. It can be taught as a single lesson or split into shorter sessions. Feedback, adaptation and personalisation are completely open — teachers can change anything to suit their needs.
