The French have voted for their 2 favorite candidates for the presidential elections. It is now quite hard to tell the future and if you are teaching French you may find it hard to explain the programs of each of the candidates. This resource will help you teach about the elections by putting the results into the French context and by explaining the birth of each political party.
This resource is aimed at intermediate-advanced level students. This resource contains a PPT with 24 slides with different activities. It also contains a booklet for students so that they can keep a track of their learning.
All the activities are corrected to save you time. Here's what you will get:

1. a matching up activity with the 5 main political parties that were competing (texts with main ideas and political trends)
2. a true/false activity about the political campaign
3. a reading with questions about Marine Le Pen and her program
4. Two video clips: Students need to answer questions about her political trends and main concerns for the voters of the Front National
5. A mini-biography to reorder about Marine Le Pen
6. A reading about the history of the FN and how it is presented now
7. A text about Emmanuel Macron and his program with questions
8. A brainstorming about what students may know about him
9. A video clip with questions
10. a mini-biography to reorder about Emmanuel Macron
11. A text giving some insight about his Party En Marche
12. The results as a conclusion

Enjoy. I am sure it will help you teach about the elections and their importance not only in France but also on the international scene.
I suggest you also use this resource that gives you a clear idea of the political system in France.

I slightly resent paying a fiver for a resource that will go out of date in a matter of weeks. But I really appreciated the detailed description of what you would get which helped me make my decision to take the plunge and pay. I'm glad I did, packed with activities...could easily take two lessons. Lots of reading practice (reading comprehensions, order the text, true/false) and a little bit of listening too (2 video clips). This lesson could easily be extended with speaking to ask the students their opinions about the candidates or you could stage a debate. The booklet that comes with the PPT is also useful - could be used for cover work or homework. The texts are challenging - this is for an A Level class.
