The first slide encourages the students to actively engage with the new vocabulary: working in teams, using their prior knowledge, knowledge of other languages and using a process of elimination to figure out the meanings. They then discuss the pronunciation and question each other before the teacher checks with the whole class. For Quick Fire Questions the students test each other on the days of the week French to English, English to French, spellings etc.

Use the second slide to drill the days of the week (I often sing the days to the tune of The Flintstones!) and for your own quick fire questions.

Then click on the links to the fabulous free website www.classtools.net where you will find a "random name picker". Instead of names I have written the days of the week in French. The students pair up. I hit the "click to spin" button and they race to correctly translate the day that the picker lands on to win a point. This is lots of fun, is v competitive and can be loud (if your class is quite loud normally, follow this with a settling activity, alternatively tell them to whisper the answer to each other so they don't help out other classmates!).

The link below takes you to the English version where the students must say the French.

Enjoy!

Their is very little content for this price, mostly distracting pictures unrelated to the subject. Only 2 slides. £1 a slide? Waste of money.
