Teach frequency trees with a complete, print-free Year 9 maths lesson built around I Do, We Do, You Do. Clear exam-style branching diagrams help pupils follow each group, complete missing frequencies and choose the correct denominator when calculating probabilities. Display the editable PowerPoint and teach directly from the screen: no printed worksheets are required.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?
A 105-slide editable PowerPoint with retrieval practice, prerequisite checks, key language, teacher modelling, guided practice, individual AFL, differentiated tasks, worked answers, exam-style questions and exit checks. The lesson includes 115 frequency-tree diagrams across questions and solutions. Clean branches, readable labels and spaces for missing counts make each tree easy to follow. Fractions are presented in stacked form.

I DO, WE DO, YOU DO
Three matched modelling pairs develop different decisions: complete missing branches; combine leaves to find an overall total; then use a conditional probability to recover missing frequencies. I Do 1 matches We Do 4, 2 matches 5, and 3 matches 6. Each pair has a larger diagram page, with corresponding paired solutions. Pupils then apply the methods independently.

PRINT-FREE AND READY TO PROJECT
Pupils can record working in exercise books or on mini-whiteboards. They can sketch the displayed trees, complete the missing counts and explain their reasoning without a handout. Diagram-heavy tasks are spread across clear slides so the trees remain readable.

DIFFERENTIATION WITH PURPOSE
Eight Developing questions build fluency in completing trees and finding totals. Eight Secure questions extend this to overall and conditional probabilities, reverse reasoning and identifying inconsistent data. Five Greater Depth questions explore algebraic frequencies, compare conditions and ask pupils to construct trees that meet stated requirements. A substantial Super Challenge uses an unknown frequency to investigate possible values and the number belonging to exactly one of two groups.

AFL AND MISCONCEPTIONS
Twenty-two individual AFL questions are followed by their own solution slides, supporting quick whole-class checks before moving on. Questions expose common errors: using the root total for every denominator, confusing P(B given A) with P(A given B), overlooking relevant leaves, or accepting a child count larger than its parent. Deliberately inconsistent trees prompt explanation and correction.

ANSWERS THAT SUPPORT TEACHING
Worked solutions show missing counts, completed trees and probability calculations. Retrieval answers, guided examples, differentiated answers and exit-check solutions support discussion and feedback.

Beyond Printables: print-free teaching, purposeful differentiation, regular AFL and explicit attention to misconceptions.

Suitable for KS3 teaching and GCSE revision.
