This resource is for teachers of GCSE dance. I use this choreography SOL with my year 11 students as it helps structure their time when they are creating their choreographies in class.

This SOL includes ‘bell activities’ designed to engage pupils from the moment they enter the dance studio and to develop their understanding and appreciation of choreography. A lot of the bell activities include YouTube clips of dancers performing choreography. Non of the videos are of any of my own dancers, they are just examples I found online. Feel free to change/update the video clips.

Bell activities also include ‘TIF tasks’ to stretch and challenge pupils.

This SOL also includes flow diagrams designed to help pupils set themselves targets to manage their time effectively in the dance studio. In addition, there is also a rough week by week plan to help pupils manage their time.

Time management is something that my GCSE dancers have struggled with in previous years, which is what inspired me to create this SOL. I am currently (as I write this) on Week 5 and so far so good. My pupils are managing their time much more effectively.

I would love to hear how you find this resource and whether it helps your Y11s manage their time more effectively. Either way let me know in the reviews :)
