The Marx Brothers mirror scene is arguably the funniest in film history. Find out in this GCSE Maths Ratio zip file - see video - which contains 5 animated slide packs - how the film clip helps an exchange rate and proportion problem (and watch the clip!). Or create multiple Compound Interest questions using my interactive spreadsheet. covering every GCSE Maths – Ratio topic from for instance shares and percents to direct and inverse proportion. Each pack has the same layout, namely Context and Summary including on-line quiz link ; then Detailed methods like percent original value, and golden rules like compound growth multiplier; then around 10 worked solutions per pack (50 in the whole file) for both simple and “wordy” questions, followed by seven quick closing questions. With the animations I’ve set, you can control the speed at which you reveal for example the next working steps and final answer to a problem.
This file can be used by students, teachers, or tutors for lesson plan slideshows or as material for revision cards and is part of a set of eight common-format files covering all the GCSE Maths topics .The whole set has around 70 slide packs. There are also two Excel interactive multichoice quiz files with 1000 Maths questions and 400 Maths for Science questions.
My approach after 100’s of hours of using and fine tuning these materials with pupils is to combine business IT-like professionalism with laser-like 100% syllabus compatibility yet build into the Maths some unusual material such as sport, pop music and popular films
