This pack includes everything you need to take your class through a practical research project as part of the AQA GCSE Sociology course. The idea is to allocate each group a research method for them to learn, carry out and then present back to the class. This project takes roughly 12 lessons if all done in class (could be done as HW to make it shorter)

This resource includes:

  • A preparation lesson where students work in groups to learn other research methods
  • A comprehensive work book for each group to work through as they complete the project. Through this they will:
    * Decide upon a hypothesis and aim
    * Consider the PET issues with their research method.
    * Consider secondary sources
    * Deliberate and decide upon a sampling method
    * Create a plan of action
    * Reflect upon results
    * Plan their group presentation
    * Peer assess the group work

Also included:

  • A PPT with slides designed to facilitate each lesson.
  • Summary work sheet for students to record the information about the research method
  • A HW sheet where students reflect individually.

I just completed this SOW with my own Yr10 class and they did wonderfully. The results they came out with were fantastic and they were able to give excellent and well informed presentations.

If you have time this would also be great to use with A level students.

Hi. Thanks for this. It looks amazing and is so much more tightly organised and systematic than I have done before, which I hope will help me a lot! I will be starting it tomorrow. Do you have the references or attachments for the challenge tasks that you mention as part of the workbook? I only see one.<br /> Thanks again!
