This worksheet has been designed to be used with pupils in KS2, who are preparing to study KS3 Geography as they transition from primary to secondary education. It could also be used as a home learning activity for Year 7 and/or Year 8 pupils (KS3).

This worksheet aims to encourage pupils to read around the subject of Geography, promoting a greater interest in current affairs and a wider understanding of the different ways in which Geography links to the World around us. The worksheet itself asks pupils to give a summary of their chosen news story (in the form of an image) prior to identifying the types of Geography evident and those likely to be affected by events happening. Following this exploration of the information they have read, pupils are encouraged to make an overall judgement of how the news story might link to Geography.

Within this resource you will get a PDF copy of the worksheet and an editable Word Document to adapt to your own needs if necessary.
