This Gingerbread House Alphabet Memory Game aims to see if the students are able to match the cards that are the same and also to,

develop memory
improve game-playing skills such as taking turns
reinforce beginning letter sounds and letter recognition
enhance upper and lowercase letter association
It was made with children who are at various learning stages in mind. The product allows for the game to be played in different ways (according to the learner). It is perfect for individuals, pairs or small groups, morning work, assessment, literacy centre and for fast finishers.

Prep

Simply print, laminate and cut out the cards

Available in black and white and color

Direction:

Shuffle and place cards face done across the table. Have each student take turns selecting 2 cards at a time. If the cards match the student keeps the pair and gets another turn, if not, the cards should be placed back face down on the table and the other player gets a turn.

Variation

Sorting (uppercase, lowercase, consonants, vowels)
Cards can also be used for ordering the letters of the alphabet
Use as a bell ringer activity (Peer Match-up) Give each student a card and allow them to find who has their match.
Can also be used to play Gingerbread Hide and Find. Gingerbread characters included.
