This activity explores the Great Depression (1929–1941), a time of economic crisis that affected millions of Americans. Students will learn about the stock market crash, the Dust Bowl, rising unemployment, and how families struggled to survive. The spotlight also covers President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal and how it aimed to rebuild the economy and protect workers. The unit shows how this era changed the role of government and shaped everyday life in the U.S.
