Move from counting separate squares to explaining a growing construction. Six sessions explore supplied building rules, fixed and growing parts, distant stages, backwards checks, counterexamples and pupils’ own designs.
Teacher guidance, worked pupil models, an independent check with a new construction and flexible reasoned answers are included. The stage number is always a positive whole number. A numerical sequence without a supplied building rule is not presented as having one hidden unique continuation.
Includes a 20-page A4 teacher-and-pupil PDF plus a separate 14-page pupil extract. British English. The extract repeats the pupil pages from the full pack.
Suggested ages 10–12, guided by prior knowledge. Pupils need whole-number addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and should be able to read a table. Letter algebra is not required. Diagram squares represent counts, not measured area.
Use the genuine preview to see the explained models and the space for pupils’ own construction.
