Growing Plants EYFS lesson

This is an Understanding the World lesson all about Growing Plants. It is the first topic in the Summer term and builds on previous knowledge of the plant life cycle.
This has to be one of my favourite lessons in EYFS because children love having the opportunity to grow their own sunflower seeds and watch them grow. They are very easy to grow and have a high success rate - even in my very dark classroom!
This takes the children through the growing process and then allows them to independently plant their own seeds and then write about the process.
We also talk about what will happen over the next few weeks. The learning for this lesson continues as they watch their sunflowers grow.
Ensure you have labels for children to write their names on.
