Growth Mindsets Staff Training and Children's Assessment

This PowerPoint offers initial training for staff in the very important area of Growth Mindsets. Developing Growth Mindsets in our pupils is now acknowledged as an essential starting point for enabling effective learning in our classrooms. For children to receive feedback favourably, and act on it, they need to develop a Growth Mindset. Guidance of what to say/do with each slide can be found within the PowerPoint notes. Staff will be required to discuss at various points and to contribute some ideas on post its. Several video clips are included within the PowerPoint. One of these, A Ted Talk used with the full permission of the speaker, has been included as a hyperlink to comply with the terms of copyright. The accompanying assessment will allow you to take a snapshot of the current mindset of your pupils. This could be repeated later in the year once pupils have been exposed to teaching about mindsets. Move your pupils from saying, 'I can't do it!' to, 'I can't do it yet!'
