A creative drawing challenge where students take an ordinary everyday object and transform half of it into something completely unexpected.

Students begin with an object such as a shoe, camera, lightbulb, tree, mug or clock. One half remains recognisable and realistic while the other becomes an imaginative world, creature, structure or fantasy design.

The activity develops observation, imagination, contrast, transformation, composition and texture.

Includes example ideas, key vocabulary, top tips, extension activities and self-assessment. Perfect for KS2–KS3 Art, Open Evenings, cover lessons and creative thinking activities.
