Scaffolded worksheets - Equations of Straight Lines

Three printable worksheets involving finding the equations of straight lines. One high scaffold one medium scaffold and one without scaffold are included. Suitable for KS4 and KS5. It’s been very difficult to find good scaffolded resources at KS5 so I have decided to create my own. The aim of this resource is to provide three levels of scaffolding by suggesting next steps, in increasing level of depth, in the working to guide students through the process who may otherwise become stuck. The question is not answered for them just hints given to the next steps. That way they can retain independence from you the teacher whilst making progress through a question and applying the skills they have to new contexts. The number and detail of hints increases throughout the three worksheets from no scaffold to high scaffold. One of the biggest barriers to our pupils’ progress is applying the skills in the correct places. When told what to do, they can do it. This worksheet guides them through and helps them to think in the correct way with the aim that they become more independent in the future. Skills involved: Mid point given two co-ordinates, Gradient between two points, Parallel and perpendicular gradients, Intercepts of axis, Finding the area of a triangle bounded by line and both axes.
