A complete, no-prep KS3 Religious Education enquiry: "What are the sources of authority in Hinduism, and how do they shape belief, identity and action?"
A six-lesson KS3 enquiry into how authority and belief work in Hinduism and how they shape Hindu life. Pupils investigate the Vedas and the Bhagavad Gita, analyse the concepts of atman, samsara and moksha, examine the four aims of life and the huge diversity of Hindu practice, and evaluate how belief shapes action. The enquiry works across two disciplinary lenses — theology and philosophy (the internal logic of belief) and the human and social sciences (how a very diverse community lives). Beliefs are always attributed (‘Hindus believe…’, ‘Many Hindus hold…’), following a ‘religion and worldviews’ approach designed to slot into your locally agreed syllabus. Hinduism has many sacred texts rather than one book; where a story is told it is presented as a retelling, and texts are described rather than fabricated.
