This lesson is part of Unit 3 of the Edexcel IGCSE ICT course and focuses on search engines, how they work, and how to use them effectively. It is one of 26 lessons in the scheme of work, which also includes three progress check and quiz lessons.
The series has been developed with a strong focus on EAL learners and keyword acquisition/application, ensuring students build a solid understanding of the technical vocabulary required for the ICT IGCSE.
Each lesson in the series contains:
1–8 keywords on easy-to-use cards that fit into the lesson activity and also serve as printable revision resources
A different active learning starter activity
A mini-plenary
A written or creative ICT task requiring correct keyword application
Stretch questioning for the main activities
Keyword literacy worksheets
This lesson can be taught as part of the full Unit 3 scheme of work or as a standalone session on search engine functionality and best practices.
