Identifying Percussion Instruments by Sound and Sight
One Unit of Five Music Lessons

Reception and Key Stage 1

You do not have to have a musical background to deliver this unit.

Comprising of five, easy-to-follow, fun music lessons based around percussion instruments. Pupils learn to recognise a range of 12 percussion instruments by sight and sound. Castanets, Chime bar, Cymbal(s), Guiro, Maracas, Triangle, Bell, Cabasa, Claves, Drum, Tambourine and Woodblock.

The instruments are not prescriptive, simply use whatever percussion instruments you have and follow the lessons plans.

This unit can be delivered to a large or small groups of pupils.

Brilliant, thank you. Not confident teaching music and this pack was perfect. Easy to follow and pitched just right for my year 1 class. The only instrument I couldn't find was a cabasa so replaced it with a rain-stick. Will be back for more.
