This is a year 4 resource aimed at improving children's enquiry skills. It takes two maps, one of Anglo Saxon London and one of modern day London and prompts children to investigate where modern place names were derived. It will also prompt children to compare the human and physical features of the two maps. I suggest printing maps A3 so children can clearly read place names. This resource is differentiated 3 ways. It is a cross curricular lesson, taking objectives from history and geography.
