A resource to designed to meet the needs of the 7132 Alevel Business AQA specification; Section 4.3: Increasing efficiency and productivity
The resource contains a 13 slide PowerPoint driven by visuals, to which I have added my delivery notes along the bottom including links to media and when activities are undertaken. All resources can be edited as required.
The content was delivered over two one hour lessons and includes;
A literacy task composing a tweet to define efficiency or productivity
A numeracy task involving calculating operations data to identify trends linked to efficiency and productivity
Introduction of economies and diseconomies of scale
A sequential consideration of how capacity, productivity and lean production can be used to improve efficiency and productivity
Contextual tasks to put together a package to increase the productivity of a lazy six former
Two linked video case studies – [c.20 minutes in total and requires YouTube access] to consider the changes in operational approach in factories 50 years apart with a student worksheet.
Included in the resources here are a ppt (including printable resource slides); a five page key notes hand-out with space for notes and activities (I have never been a fan of getting students copying from the board).
