This Psychology lesson explores how psychologists investigate and how we judge their findings.

Students compare research methods, distinguish theories from studies, and consider what quantitative and qualitative data can tell us. Using everyday examples such as music and memory, they practise evaluating validity, reliability, generalisability, objectivity and ethics.

The lesson also introduces wider issues and debates, including nature and nurture, reductionism and holism, cultural and gender bias, and the use of psychology in society.

Throughout, students build their AO1, AO2 and AO3 skills by explaining ideas, applying them to examples and reaching supported judgements.
