Introduction to GCSE first lesson

This is the first lesson I use for those entering year 10 in September. I hope it comes in handy.

I have had many students ask why do French, especially as it is compulsory in our school.

The lesson slides sequence is:

1. a video to show why they should take languages. Embedded into the powerpoint already - just press play.
2. objectives and a reflection question
3. language classroom expectations
4. true or false facts on languages
5. why study a language quotes
6. match the names of famous people to the degree they did
7. slides with information on the listening, speaking, writing and reading assessments in GCSE.
8. slide on the themes they will see in year 10 and year 11

because our lessons are two hours long the second part is recapping or starting holidays and getting their books.
