Complete “Ready to go” lesson with no adapting necessary!
New for AAQ Pearson Applied Science BTEC from Sept 2025 Specification.

This lesson covers:
• First Ionisation and Successive Ionisation Energy with equations - Students then practice writing ionisation equations and identifying which ionisation equations represent
•Further content on successive ionisation energy for a single element linked to electronic structure - Students then complete a graphing and comparison task where they will analyse results to explain differences in ionisation energy and electronic structure
•Factors that affect ionisation energy - Students then identify and explain which elements have the higher ionisation energy out of 13 questions
•IE trends across periods and down groups (Graph animated with descriptions and electronic structures to help student understanding) - Students then complete a gap fill to give a full description and explanation for the change in ionisation energy in periods (incl exceptions) and groups. Students then use data provided to colour a periodic table as a heat map to visualise the changes in ionisation energy
1x worksheet to be printed per student
