Islam – KS2 RE (Think, Talk, Explain, Learn)

A fully resourced KS2 Religious Education lesson exploring Islamic beliefs, practices, and the Five Pillars.

This complete Islam lesson is designed to build secure religious understanding through structured discussion, clear explanations, and carefully sequenced tasks. Using the Think, Talk, Explain, Learn approach, pupils move beyond surface facts to explain meaning – including belief in one God (Allah), prayer, charity, fasting during Ramadan, and the importance of the Five Pillars in guiding daily life.

Misconceptions are tackled explicitly (e.g. “Muslims worship Muhammad” and “All Muslims must go on Hajj every year”), helping pupils develop accurate knowledge and respectful understanding of Islam.

Includes:
• Editable KS2 PowerPoint (Think, Talk, Explain, Learn lesson structure)
• Pupil Quiz (Word) with explanation tasks and Mix ’n’ Match glossary check
• Teacher Guide & Answer Sheet (Word) with lesson flow, misconceptions, and marking guidance
• Poster Fact Boxes (Ramadan + Five Pillars)
• Glossary and exit ticket for quick assessment

Pedagogical approach:
• Think, Talk, Explain, Learn – structured discussion before answers
• Misconception-led teaching – common errors addressed explicitly
• Retrieval + explanation – pupils explain meanings, not just recall facts
• Vocabulary-first approach – key RE language embedded and revisited

✔ Ideal for Years 3–6
✔ Minimal preparation – ready to teach
✔ Whole-school licence – reuse yearly and share within your school
