Initial Sounds Letter Recognition & Formation Worksheets: /j/

A set of five worksheets giving focused practice in recognising, forming and applying the target sound.

Letter formation is taught alongside the sound from the outset, helping to prevent letter confusion later on — children not yet ready to write should be guided to finger trace instead.

The first three worksheets follow a consistent pattern: tracing and writing the letter, naming pictures and identifying the initial sound, then colouring items that begin with it.
The final two build on this with ring-round and matching activities, plus a cut-and-stick task to consolidate sound-picture association.
