Kiffe kiffe demain – Faïza Guène – Plot: Doria’s Personal Development

A detailed French-language resource exploring Doria’s development from wounded, defensive fatalism towards greater autonomy, emotional maturity and belief in the possibility of change. It examines how paternal abandonment, Yasmina’s example, relationships with Hamoudi, Lila, Sarah, Nabil and Mme Burlaud, education and social institutions gradually reshape Doria’s understanding of herself and her future.

Key features:

• The movement from mektoub and a seemingly predetermined future towards greater agency, choice and cautious optimism
• Yasmina’s literacy, growing confidence and new employment as a practical model of autonomy and perseverance
• Hamoudi, Lila, Sarah and Nabil used to explore attachment, jealousy, responsibility, emotional reciprocity and Doria’s ability to revise her judgements
• Mme Burlaud and the ending of Doria’s therapy as evidence of genuine progress without suggesting complete emotional resolution
• School, the CAP in hairdressing and other institutions examined as both restrictive and potentially enabling forces in Doria’s development
• Doria’s emerging political awareness, including her imagined non-violent collective action, alongside analysis of first-person narration, humour, oral language and the transformation from “kif-kif demain” to “kiffe kiffe demain” L’evolution personnelle de Doria
