An interactive session designed for KS4 and 16+ learners on the topic of knife crime. This session is designed to last roughly 30 minutes but can be easily adapted to different durations via the debate prompts.
Learning aims:
The presentation contains links which may not function properly on Powerpoint. If the video does not play automatically, use the link on the last page. For best results, open in Canva.
Though the presentation does not feature any overtly graphic material, sensitivity and discretion are advised, given the nature of the subject. When teaching this session, I ask students to write about their aspirations on a piece of paper a s a starter. Once collected, I begin to rip some of these papers up at random, to demonstrate how quickly life can be taken away. This proved to be an impactful segue into the topic, emphasising the potential consequences of knife crime.
