KS1 - halving an amount (using money)

This is a resource I created to help Y1 children develop and apply their counting and halving skills when using money. Following our pirate theme there are coins inside treasure chests. There are three differentiated worksheets with treasure chests and coins with varying types of coins used and amounts created. On one worksheet the children have to first work out how much is in the chest then use the coins to find half of the amount (using the concept of sharing the coins into two groups). On other worksheets the children have larger amounts and coins that cannot be shared into groups so they have to use alternative representations or equivalents to share into two groups to find half of the amount.
