This has been designed as a synoptic unit and works well after students have studied development and ideally, climate change but could easily be tweaked to extend it further to allow the teaching of regional geographies on a larger scale.
The topic starts with the key characteristics of Africa as a region, before zooming in to different parts of Africa and studying the Fulani people and the threats to the Sahel, before exploring China’s relationship with Africa.
