An assessment resource to assess the progress of students at KS3 Physical Education. The descriptors are in line with the strands observed by Ofsted during a curriculum deep dive.

There are 3 strands to assessment:

  • Skill Acquisition - The class teacher uses the most fitting descriptors to match the student’s fluency when implementing skills and techniques learned in a block of work.
  • Rules, Regulations & Officiating - The class teacher uses the most fitting descriptors to convey a students understanding of the rules and regulations of the assessed activity.
  • Sporting Performance - The class teacher uses the descriptors to communicate the quality of decision making (skill selection and timing, using skill to outwit opponents) during performance.

This rubric produces a raw mark of 45 per activity. The associated tracker converts that to a working mark out of 100, averaging the score awarded in each unit. This can then be used to co-ordinate with the school’s reporting system, for example in Year 7 students awarded an average score of Bronze Medal would be work “in line with expected progress”.
