Keywords: Rate of Reaction, surface area, particles, collision theory, energy & successful

ALL: describe how cutting up an object increases the surface area

MOST: identify how surface area effects the rate of a reaction

SOME: explain how surface area effects the rate of a reaction S: Surface area? Relate to thing pupils are familiar with (sugar in tea and potato)
LA- could demonstrate cutting up a potato or breaking up lego

I: encourage pupils to make a prediction about surface area and rate of reaction

M:
CaCO3 and HCl practical.

Pupils to draw graph & answer questions. (For LA- give them the axis so they can just plot (won’t be able to give volume unless you do before lesson to get figures) or help them to draw)
