This is part of a series of Geography lessons designed for **KS3 **around the place of Africa. This was initially designed for Year 9 students in preparation for a GCSE in Geography but can easily be used with other year groups. This SOW is complete with fully resourced lessons, assessments, further reading and ideas for building in cultural capital to the curriculum.

There is clear sequencing of skills and knowledge throughout.

This lesson focuses on the importance of the African Savannah.
The objectives of the lesson are:

  • Identify the ‘big five’ and construct their food webs.
  • Explain the interrelationships between soil and species in the savannah.
  • Suggest positives & negatives of species conservation in the savannah.
