This resource is a PowerPoint containing slides with Find the Odd One Out exercises in French. The topics of animals, weather and family are covered.
-
How to use this resource: it can be used as a lesson starter, as an extension activity or as part of a homework task. Pupils could do this individually, in pairs or in small groups.
-
Each slide contains five sets of four words on the specified topic. Pupils then have to decide which word is the odd one out and provide a valid reason for their choice. The reason could be grammatical, eg. it is the only masculine word or the reason could be linked to the meanings of the words, eg. it is the only animal with fur.
-
I have provided an answer for each set of words, but there could also be alternative answers. This could therefore be used as a team game, where each team receives 1 point for a correct answer or 2 points if they can come up with a valid answer that no other team has chosen.
-
Once pupils have completed these activities, they could be used as prompts for them to create their own puzzles, which could then be exchanged with other pupils.
