This Day and Night exploration resource supports EYFS and KS1 learning through observation, discussion, sorting, and simple scientific enquiry.
Children explore the differences between daytime and nighttime by investigating familiar daily routines, natural features, and nocturnal animals such as foxes and owls.
There are 5 worksheets showing colour pictures and 5 showing black and white pictures - both related to night and day. Children can draw their own pictures onto the worksheets, or sort pictures by cutting and pasting.
The resource encourages key enquiry skills including observing, comparing similarities and differences, and recording findings.
Children develop their understanding of the world around them while learning about daily routines, animal behaviour, and the changing environment.
The activities link to Mathematics through sorting, classifying, and grouping pictures, while supporting Speaking and Listening as children discuss their ideas, explain their choices, share observations, and use topic-related vocabulary during collaborative learning experiences.
