Make Pairs with Gloves is a fun resource for EYFS and KS1 that supports early maths skills through matching and sorting.
The pack includes 3 black and white worksheets where children match pairs of gloves by looking carefully at colour, pattern, shape and detail.
They can then colour in the gloves to make matching ones.
The resource also includes 3 coloured versions of the worksheets, providing clear examples of how the gloves could look when completed. These can be used for modelling, discussion, independent checking or display.
This activity reinforces key early maths concepts such as recognising pairs, making sets of 2, counting, grouping and comparing similarities and differences.
It also links to everyday learning about clothing and seasons.
To extend the learning, provide a box or basket of real gloves for children to sort and pair practically. Discuss why gloves come in pairs, explore left and right hands, and investigate what happens when one glove is missing. Children could also design their own patterned gloves, creating matching pairs and explaining their colour and pattern choices.
