A fun, practical resource designed for EYFS and KS1 that supports early maths skills through matching and sorting.
There are 4 colour worksheets and 4 matching black and white sheets.
Children match pairs of shoes by looking carefully at colour, pattern, style and detail, helping to develop visual discrimination and early problem-solving as well as extending vocabulary.
The activity reinforces the concept of making sets of 2, recognising pairs, and understanding that two items can belong together.
It also links to everyday learning about clothing and seasons, encouraging discussion about different types of shoes and when we wear them.
To extend the learning, invite children to pair up real shoes from home corners or PE areas, or provide extra pictures of shoes for them to sort and match independently, strengthening counting, grouping and reasoning skills in a hands-on way.
