This is an Understanding the World lesson linked to the Little Red Riding Hood story. It develops children’s understanding of maps and gives them an opportunity to problem solve.

The activity is for children to place key locations in the story onto a map as this will help Red Riding Hood get to Grandma’s house. We give children a chance to look at real maps and real locations.

You could extend the activity by getting children to make their own map or to use the construction area to build a map or a route through the forest.
