Lord of the Flies: Revision SoW
GCSE, Higher level.
A well-designed and detailed exam revision scheme of work for eight big lesson plans, optimised for online teaching. The lesson plans are designed to be divided over eight weeks of lessons.
This SoW assumes that the novel has been read, and understood to some depth previously. However it is possible to use this plan alongside reading-based activity lessons, while teaching the novel for the first time.
All sections refer to the attached PowerPoint presentations, which contain knowledge breakdowns and can also act as handouts. The sections are as follows:
Week 1: Introduction to Context
Week 2: Revising Character
Week 3: Revising Theme
Week 4: Recapping Plot and Structure
Week 5: Exploring Symbolism
Week 6: Introduction to Allusion
Week 7/8: Reviewing and Responding to Exam Questions (Edexcel)
In each week’s PowerPoint, you’ll find a series of whiteboard-friendly, well designed, and detailed written questions, discussion questions, and knowledge breakdowns which can span over multiple lessons. Files include the ppt and pdf s (The slides also double as handouts for activities, as explained in the main SoW sheet.)
