A taster lesson for Year 6 students on transition day to the secondary school but could be used with Year 7.

Conti’s MARSEARS approach is implemented. There is a strong emphasis on speaking, focusing on phonics, practising vocabulary and becoming confident through speaking activities and games. Higher level vocabulary from KS4 has been used to stretch and challenge pupils.

  • Objective & Starter. Focus on cognates
  • Practise phonics and embed vocabulary into memory
  • Slide 4- Bingo, King of the Ring or Beat the Teacher
  • Introduce HL vocab- focus on pronunciation and discussion on tenses
  • Consolidate vocabulary- teacher led and whole class participation
  • Student led game allowing students to practise- market place
  • Student led game allowing students to practise- squidgeon
