This lesson is strategies to manage hurricanes and flooding. It’s suited for both KS3 and a GCSE group. Key facts about the lesson are:

The lesson start with an really good interactive starter task about the primary and secondary effects of hurricanes and floods. There is then analysis task that allows students to explore the 3 ps (predict, protect and prepare) of hazard management. Finally students are introduced to some examples of hard and soft flood defences for rivers.

The lesson has a range of learning activities suitable to different types of learners; there are photos to make real the nature of a floods, an interactive task and a few activities to strengthen their analytical skills.

The lesson was designed to introduce aspects of the new GCSE specifications at KS3 however, it has enough challenge to meet the learning needs of a GCSE group as well.

It's a complete lesson with all the resources you need to deliver it - a starter, learning activities, plenary etc. All you will need is the ppt which can be downloaded then just teach!
