Position, direction and 2D shapes (four days).

Children give details of locations on a grid and then plot a route using left and right to pass through each location. Children make shapes using children as corners and ropes to form the sides, discussing the properties of squares, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons and octagons. They sort regular and irregular shapes according to whether they are pentagons, hexagons or octagons. Squares are put together to form new shapes which children name. Children spot how many triangles and rectangles they can see in diagrams, and program a Roamer to draw squares and rectangles.
