Place value (three days).

Children revise their knowledge of place value in three-digit numbers, and using this to subtract multiples of one hundred or one, or the two-digit part of the number, or add these and write the related additions and subtraction e.g. 100 + 23 = 123, 423 – 23 = 400, 120 + 3 = 123, 423 – 3 = 420. This term they move on to also add or subtract multiples of tens, e.g. 103 + 20, 123 – 20. The context of money is also used, along with the necessary notation. Two-digit numbers are multiplied by 10, and children see the effect as each digit moves one place to the left.
