Fractions (five days).

The counting stick, 100 bead string, 100 square and the ITP Fractions are used to help children to see the equivalence between tenths, hundredths, vulgar fractions and decimal fractions. Children learn to write equivalent fractions in both decimal and vulgar fractions forms. They place these fractions on a 0-1 number line with tenths labelled and use this to find which fractions or more or less than ½. Children learn to find fractions with a total of 1, using various images including grids of 4 by 2 and 4 by 3.
