Counting on and back, describing patterns (three days).

Children count on and back in steps of various single-digit numbers, including back through zero. They investigate the digit sums when counting on in nines from different starting numbers and work out which columns of grids give vertical lines for different multiples. They count on and back in 25s, including back through zero, and investigate how many times given digits will occur when counting to 500 or 1000. Finally they continue patterns of shapes, predicting what the next few shapes will look like, and move towards being able to predict the tenth shape without making each shape up to that point.
