Mental multiplication and division (five days).

Children revise multiplying and dividing two-digit numbers by single-digit numbers, using brackets and ENL jottings to help. The effects of multiplying and dividing by 10 are used to help children double then halve groups of numbers such as 36, 3.6, 0.36, 360 and 3600. Children are introduced to the idea of expressing the answer to a division as a mixed number e.g. 11 ÷ 2 = 5½. They move on to apply their knowledge to other divisors: 3, 4 and 5.
