History of maths (five days).
Children learn to write numbers using different number systems, from both the past and the present, including ones which do have place value as they know it. Different methods of multiplication are introduced and discussed. Children find examples to meet Goldbach’s conjecture about prime numbers, investigate patterns in Pascal's triangle and investigate a rule about the Fibonacci sequence. Finally they show how Pythagoras’ theorem is true!
