~Medical Privilege~Doctor-patient privilege applies to matters shared between doctor and patient during the course of providing medical care. These matters may not be divulged to others except under extremely limited circumstances. This is also referred to as confidentiality.

~Modern Exceptions— Most American states
~Gunshot wounds which come under the doctor’s care must be reported to the police.
~Termination request of a pregnancy for an underage patient, without the knowledge of the patient's parents, must be reported.
~Evidence of child abuse having occurred must be reported.
~Patient has divulged information which shows he or she is about to commit a crime now or in the future. This must be communicated to police.
