This resource has been created for the new WJEC Geography specification and covers specification points 1.3.1–1.3.3 (Migration).
The resource focuses on the Migration unit and includes three comprehensive PowerPoints. Although there are three main lessons, the depth of content means they can easily be broken down and adapted to suit the needs of your department.
Lessons included:
Causes of Migration – Covers the classification of migrants, flows of migrants (with a circular plot diagram for skills), and push/pull factors supported by a range of interactive activities.
Qatar and the World Cup – A case study exploring the impacts of migration on host countries (e.g. quality of life, pressures, opportunities) and source countries (e.g. brain drain, remittances).
Managing Migration – Examines how the USA has dealt with illegal migration through the border wall and how Australia uses a points-based system to manage skilled migration.
Each PowerPoint is fully resourced with detailed slides, ready to plug and play, alongside teacher notes explaining the rationale behind the design and content choices.
